Steamer for doll hair?

I've noticed people, when straightening/defrizzing their doll hair refer to a steamer rather than a flat iron. What's the difference? Where do you get a steamer? Are they expensive?

The difference is that the steamer is plastic and a regular iron is metal. Synthetic wig hair like we have on the AG dolls is made of a nylon-like or plastic-like substance which will melt if it is exposed to hot metal or dry heat. But moist heat will make it release frizzies. So a regular metal flat iron would make the frizzies worse, and a plastic steamer will make the frizzies much better. It is also very risky to hold this synthetic hair over a boiling teakettle or boiling pot of water on the stove, because the dry heat coming around the pot, or the hot metal on the tea kettle or pot could come too close to the hair and make the frizzies worse. You also have to be careful to not buy a steamer that has a metal plate on the underside, which I have seen some people try to use.
